Teeth Whitening

We recommend that you’ve been to see the dentist at least once in the past year.

What is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening helps to remove years of stains and discoloration from your teeth. Whether you’re getting older, are a smoker or drink a lot of tea and coffee, it’s natural to have a smile that’s yellowed and duller than you’d like.

Why is Teeth Whitening needed?

Teeth whitening may be needed prior to other cosmetic procedures. You may want to whiten your teeth before a wedding, reunion or graduation. If you’re feeling badly about your appearance, one of the easiest and beneficial ways to make a change is with professional whitening. If you’ve used over-the-counter whitening products before, it’s time to see the difference in using a professional system.

Dr. Mammen and her staff are wonderful. They are very warm and do care very much to make sure your teeth and gums are as healthy as they can be. They seem to use the latest techhnologies and have a comfy waiting area.

Who’s a good candidate for Teeth Whitening?

Patients over the age of 18 are good candidates for teeth whitening. We recommend that you’ve been to see the dentist at least once in the past year. Keep in mind that almost all whitening systems don’t lighten the color of restorations like fillings, crowns and veneers. We’ll examine your teeth before whitening is done to see if you’re a good candidate for our system.

What happens during the Teeth Whitening process?

Impressions are taken of your teeth to create custom made trays. These trays will then be filled with a refrigerated whitening gel that helps to lock out any saliva in the mouth. This prevents the whitening gel from becoming diluted and helps to maximize the results you’ll achieve. You will wear your whitening trays each night for about two weeks. You’ll come back into our office for a shade comparison to see how much whiter your teeth actually are. It’s not uncommon for patients to have teeth that are up to 8-10 shades lighter than before.

If you are ready to change your smile with professional whitening, call our office and our friendly staff members can schedule an appointment for you.
